What You'll Do
As a Fabrication Tech, you will fabricate raw metal into assemblies using tools such as welders, plasma cutters, and metal workers. You will fabricate, inspect, debur, and perform general paint prep steps on clean metal - playing a key role in keeping production running smoothly while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment; reading blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
Building jigs to specific lengths and correct measurements
Welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; examining welds for bead size and other specifications
Cleaning and degreasing weld joints or workpieces; repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, and preparing surfaces by grooving or scarfing
Removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces; chipping off excess weld, slag, and spatter
Positioning and clamping workpieces together or assembling them in a jig or fixture
Performing minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces
Setting up and performing maintenance on fab and machine shop machines; performing burning work
Maintaining a clean, orderly work area and complying with all OSHA and PCE safety rules
Accurately recording time worked and allocating time to the appropriate job(s)

Required:
High school diploma or GED, OR 3–6 months of related experience in farming, construction, carpentry, or manufacturing (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
Preferred:
Fabrication certificate from a trade school
3–6 months of experience in fabrication or welding
3–6 months of experience safely operating machines
Prior experience is preferred but not required — we are willing to train the right candidate!
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role in a manufacturing environment. Team members must be able to:
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the shift
Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
Communicate effectively and be regularly required to talk and hear
Maintain close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, team members are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Appropriate PPE is required and provided.
