Goodfish Group is the UK's leading privately-owned contract manufacturer of plastic and composite components. Our expertise in plastic extrusion, injection moulding and and tooling has been developed through successive acquisitions of leading companies in each discipline. Our customers are predominantly leading multi-national businesses in automotive, aerospace, medical, heating, cooling, retail displays, electrical and water distribution, and building products. We are looking to expand our capabilities, in line with growing industry demands.
The role of the setter will be to set, condition & optimise several machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that machine start up, re-start and shut down processes are followed
Ensure all team members work safely and comply with HSE policies and procedures
Fault finding and problem solving of development and production processes
Tool changes including tool preparation, cleaning hoppers and material preparation
Cleanliness around machines in accordance with 5S protocols
Assist Team Leader with production training and first samples
Perform hands-on production and assembly functions, includes running machines and packing. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Data collection and recording using papers and cloud-based systems
Carry out shift handover to the next setter
Carry out daily machine safety checks and report any faults
Ensure standard operating procedures and any other relevant information is issued to operators prior to production run (thus ensuring all old production run materials, parts and paperwork are removed from the press).
Suggest and implement continuous improvement and cost saving ideas
Personal Specification:
Minimum of 2 years as an extrusion setter is essential
Qualification in plastic extrusion from a recognised plastics provider is desired but not essential
Understand modern manufacturing principles and quality, as well as health and safety standards
Knowledge of materials
To demonstrate a level of determination to achieve multiple tasks in a busy environment
Good Communication skills
Have a conscientious attitude to work
Confident to improve and adjust extrusion conditions
Problem solving experience
Ability to coach and support apprentices
Self-motivated with ambition
IT literate
Hours:
37.5 hours per week on 3 rotating shifts as follows:
Monday - Thursday Schedule: Rotating Shifts
Mornings 06:00am - 02:00pm
Afternoons 02:00pm - 10:00pm
Nights 10:00pm - 06:00am
Paid break time: 30 minutes
Friday - Schedule: Rotating Shifts
Mornings 6:00am-11:00am
Afternoons 11:00am-04:00pm
Nights 04:00pm-09:00pm
Unpaid break time: No break minutes
