The Paw Patch Veterinary Hospital has been a pillar of our community since 1984, established and continuously led by the highly regarded Dr. Erik Tysklind, who has since retired. Our team is now lead by a our PM of 30 years, our medical director, Dr. Abra Foster, and a strong leadership team. Our vibrant, patient-focused practice thrives on delivering exceptional, personalized care grounded in strong core values.
Our close-knit team comprises two full-time veterinarians, skilled registered veterinary technicians (RVTs), a dedicated support staff, and a proactive practice manager. Many of our team members are newer to our practice, creating an environment centered on learning, teamwork, professional growth, and a shared passion for providing excellent animal care and client expereince.

This is a part-time position requiring availability on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with additional weekday and Saturday shifts as needed. Hours will range from 18–29 hours per week. This could grow into a FT position in the future.

Our veterinary clinic in Indianapolis, United States, is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our furry patients and support to their owners.
• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Restrain and handle animals safely during examinations and treatments
• Triage incoming patients and obtain medical histories from pet owners
• Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal specimens
• Prepare animals for surgery and monitor them during anesthesia
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and surgical areas
• Communicate effectively with pet owners about treatment plans and home care instructions
• Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays and ultrasounds
• Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient care
• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Availability to work Saturdays until 1pm (required)
• Demonstrated ability to properly restrain pets
• Compassionate and calm demeanor when working with animals and their owners
• Excellent teamwork and multitasking skills
• Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
• Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move animals
• Ability to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
• Willingness to be exposed to potential bites, scratches, and contagious diseases
• Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, and processing laboratory tests (preferred)
• Experience with radiographs and anesthesia monitoring (preferred)
• Self-motivated with a desire to continually advance knowledge and skills in veterinary care
• Ability to remain composed in high-stress situations and handle emergencies calmly
• Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate medical records and proper care protocols
