The Exchange System Administrator is responsible for managing and optimising hybrid Exchange environments, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient communication services while supporting migration, integration, and ongoing operational performance.
This is a 12 month contract role.
Requirements:
What you'll do:
• Manage and maintain Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and hybrid Exchange environments.
• Lead and support migration activities, including mailbox, group, and archive data transitions to Exchange Online.
• Develop and implement migration strategies, including rationalisation of legacy archive solutions.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across messaging and infrastructure environments.
• Maintain and enhance Enterprise Vault archiving solutions and related systems.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, migration plans, and operational procedures.
• Represent technical expertise in project meetings and facilitate workshops where required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including service desk and infrastructure teams, to support service delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team.
What you'll bring:
• Extensive experience with Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and hybrid deployments in complex environments.
• Proven experience delivering Exchange migrations, including cross-forest and legacy system transitions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mail flow, gateways, and hybrid connectivity.
• Solid understanding of Windows Server fundamentals, including Active Directory, DNS, DFS, and Group Policy.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks, including ISM and Essential Eight.
• Strong experience producing technical documentation, including design and operational artefacts.
• Experience with Enterprise Vault, Microsoft Purview, Intune, and broader Microsoft 365 services (desirable).
