Job Summary
Responsible for operating heavy machinery / backhoe to dig, move and manage earth and materials on construction sites, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate excavators and other heavy equipment to perform tasks such as digging trenches, excavating foundations and leveling land.
Prepare construction sites by removing debris and potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.
Operating company dump truck for hauling materials.
Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety regulations.
Work closely with construction managers and supervisors, following blueprints and project specifications to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Understands, communicates and enforces safety policies on the project at all times.
Safely use tools, machinery and equipment.
Is responsible for adhering to Derrick safety manual and OSHA standards.
Assures that project is maintained in an orderly, clean, secure, and professional manner.
Skills and Qualifications
Demonstrate knowledge of excavation techniques and equipment and seek to improve skills through training and practice.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Physical fitness to be able to remain seated for long periods of time, operate levers, and pay attention to detail.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Is a TEAM player and has the ability to work with all levels of an organization.
Ability to shift priorities when necessary.
Always acts in an ethical manner with highest integrity.
Dedicated to excellence in quality and customer service.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operations is preferred.
Valid driver’s license required
CDL preferred or willing to obtain within 6-12 months.
Experience operating heavy machinery essential.
Knowledge of construction techniques.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
