Ethical Trade and Environmental Sustainability at Primark

As a key member of our expansive EMEAA team, you'll collaborate with suppliers, champion ethical practices, and make a tangible difference. All with the purpose of ensuring we meet social compliance, environmental sustainability legislative requirements, industry initiatives and standards.

This unique and strategic new role is designed to fortify our Ethical Trade programme across India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, promoting continuous improvement and supporting the ambitious objectives of our Primark strategy.

The Ethical Trade Executive (ETE) will play a key role in strengthening supply chain management and traceability within the Primark Cotton Programme in India. The role is responsible for coordinating with supply chain partners, ensuring smooth cotton flow, conducting audits and checks, resolving issues, and delivering training to improve efficiency and data accuracy. The ETE will also contribute to the evolution of supply chain and traceability strategy, prioritisation, process optimisation, and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role will also involve engagement with Primark teams in other countries to support alignment on supply chain and traceability approaches.

What You’ll do:

This role will focus on India and have the following key responsibilities:

Support effective supply chain management

• Engage actively with different partners, including the programme implementers and the businesses (farmers, ginners, spinners etc) within the supply chain.  This will require undertaking frequent mill visits and organising stakeholder events.  Use this engagement to:• facilitate and support our contracted implementing partners to conduct training on supply chain management and traceability processes
• ensure compliance with traceability processes and quality requirements, including by comparing mills’ conduct to expected behaviours, and assessing what response is appropriate where factories are not complying
• based on the assessment of compliance, assess how much PCP cotton to allocate to them
• ensure compliance with procurement volume allocations including by confirming actual stock levels reflect those stored on the system

Traceability in the Cotton Supply Chain

• • Contribute to the execution of the TraceBale software work plan implemented by CottonConnect and support future technological developments such as the QR systems.

• Contribute to the process of ensuring TraceBale functions are aligned with programme requirements and continuously improved.

Contribute to wider internal coordination and analysis

• • Work closely with the Primark Cotton Project Manager (India), Central Primark Cotton Project team (United Kingdom), Primark Cotton Project teams in Pakistan and Bangladesh, external partners and wider Ethical Trade, Environmental Sustainability, and Product Sustainability teams.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the India-wide strategy.
• Support supply chain mapping from ginner to supplier when required.
• Maintain relationships with partners such as CottonConnect, MYRADA and SEWA, under the guidance of the India Manager.

• 8 plus years work experience.

• Fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil (and any other regional language is optional).
