We are looking for a Construction Estimator to prepare and manage estimates for commercial construction projects in the Richmond, Virginia area. This role is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with subcontractors, and supporting the pre-construction process. The ideal candidate can independently prepare turnkey estimates for projects up to $10 million and collaborate with internal teams on larger projects.
Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual design through final bid
• Independently manage turnkey estimates for projects up to $10 million in value
• Coordinate with internal teams to develop estimates for larger, more complex projects
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids
• Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop comprehensive estimates
• Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout the estimating process
• Maintain organized records of bids, subcontractor pricing, and project documentation
• Participate in industry events and networking opportunities to build relationships with subcontractors and partners
• Support pre-construction planning, budgeting, and bid submission activities
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating for commercial projects
• Experience working for a general contractor or commercial construction firm
• Ability to independently prepare full project estimates up to $10 million
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project scopes
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids and vendor pricing
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across internal teams and subcontractors
