Averton is an experienced and award-winning homebuilder, community developer and construction management company and we’re looking to add an experienced Estimator to the pre-construction team in our Edmonton office.
This role will play a key part in ensuring project management is supported as required, ensuring budgets, changes, and timelines are controlled and will provide consistent system implementation and usage across all projects.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for the following:
Ensure consistency of data entry and system usage across all projects
Under the guidance and request of the Production Manager:
Complete tender reviews, take-offs, and pricing to ensure accurate and reasonable tender submissions
Complete in-depth review of all quotes to ensure accuracy and alignment of scope and contract documents
Review all final change orders, interior and exterior color charts to ensure accuracy prior to the purchase order release
Produce and maintain accurate model budgets
Complete plan redline reviews to ensure errors and omissions have been captured before release to site or subcontractors
Complete vendor scope and quote submissions to ensure accuracy of plan, specifications, and scope are accounted for
Process purchase orders and variance purchase orders
Complete job release to construction
Complete custom price requests to ensure accuracy of price, specification and build up
General system maintenance to ensure accuracy of information for reporting and functionality of pricelists, products, updates, model estimates, supplier contact information etc.
Communicate and liaise with the Design, Drafting, Site, Sales teams as required
Analyze and identify any value engineering/price saving opportunities
General project coordination as required, including but not limited to:
Apply for Alberta new home warranty on all new homes as required
Register new jobs with Atco gas as required by Project Managers
Apply for utilities for all homes as requested by Site Managers
Request stake out dates
Coordination and completion of all subcontractor registration packages
Complete continual research of new trends, products, and materials available that may provide a better product or price point
Maintain all job specific process mapping and standard operating procedures
Actively participate in safety program to ensure all aspects of Averton are functioning at the highest level of safety standards
Complete site walk throughs on a regular basis to ensure on-site actuals are aligned with the preconstruction plan, schedule A, and budget
Additional assignments from the Project Managers or Production Manager as required
We will be looking for the following:
5 or more years of Estimating related experience in the residential industry
Experience with NewStar Enterprise or similar builder programs will be considered an asset
Strong work ethic with an attention to detail and follow up.
Excellent customer service skills.
Willingness and ability to learn, take on new tasks, rise to challenges and work in a team environment
The ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
Strong computer related skills
Overall communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience working well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
An ability to work independently and with a team
