Job Description
Mission Critical Interior Solutions, Inc. (MCIS) is seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically focused Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role requires specialized expertise in data center mechanical infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on hot and cold aisle containment systems.
The Estimator will play a key role in evaluating project requirements, developing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions for mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate will have prior estimating experience in data center construction or a related technical sales or engineering role, along with strong vendor relationships, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience in complex white space environments.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
Lead estimating efforts for hot and cold aisle containment systems, including components such as polycarbonate panels, blanking panels, containment roofs, doors, and structural supports.
Support cost development for raised access flooring systems, structural ceiling grids, and conveyance solutions.
Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive proposals across multiple scopes of work.
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and trade partners to review project scopes, identify value engineering opportunities, and ensure alignment with specifications.
Participate in preconstruction handoff meetings to ensure smooth transition and accuracy for operations teams.
Bid Management & Vendor Relations
Review and manage invitations to bid, distribute relevant information, and maintain accurate tracking in Procore.
Solicit, evaluate, and track vendor and subcontractor pricing across multiple scopes.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive and timely pricing.
Monitor market trends and material cost fluctuations to support accurate estimating.
Process Development & Department Support
Support the Director of Preconstruction in refining departmental processes, procedures, and best practices.
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and data center construction methods.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and reporting processes.
Qualifications
Required:
U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in data center construction, mechanical systems, or technical sales/solutions roles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software platforms.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle sensitive information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
Background in engineering or design; experience with design software is a plus.
Familiarity with Procore construction management software.
Experience with 3D modeling tools for visualization and scope development.
Employment Details
Compensation: Competitive, market-based salary (commensurate with experience)
Pay Schedule: Weekly (every Friday)
Schedule: Full-time; standard business hours with flexibility as needed to meet project deadlines
