Estimator Civil/Concrete

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support the pricing and cost planning of civil and concrete projects including asphalt roads, drainage works, pits, curb and gutter construction.

This role will focus on full estimating and quantity take-offs. All tender submissions will remain the responsibility of the owner. The Estimator will prepare complete pricing documentation to support accurate and competitive bids. All estimating will be completed using Excel spreadsheets (no CRM systems).

Full Project Estimating:
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt roadworks, drainage, pits, curb and gutter projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Calculate labour, plant, material, and subcontractor costs

Quantity Take-Offs:
• Perform accurate quantity take-offs from engineering drawings
• Measure and document earthworks, drainage lines, kerbing, asphalt volumes, and associated works
• Provide clear breakdowns for pricing sheets

Cost Build-Ups & Pricing Sheets:
• Develop structured Excel-based pricing models
• Break down rates for labour, equipment, materials, and overheads
• Maintain consistency across estimating templates

Subcontractor & Supplier Comparison:
• Assist with compiling supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Prepare comparison spreadsheets for review by the owner

Scope Review & Risk Identification:
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, or ambiguities within drawings
• Highlight risks, provisional items, and potential cost exposures

Documentation & Version Control:
• Maintain organised estimating records
• Track revisions and pricing adjustments
• Ensure accuracy and auditability of all spreadsheets

Role Scope:
• No CRM management required
• No tender writing responsibilities
• Tender submissions handled by the owner
• Focus purely on estimating and take-off support

Required Skills and Experience:
• Civil engineering qualification preferred, or strong practical experience in civil/concrete estimating
• Experience estimating asphalt roads, drainage, pits, curb and gutter works
• Advanced Excel skills essential
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with Australian civil construction standards preferred
