About the Role:

We are seeking a compliance-focused ESG Reporting Analyst to support our end-to-end ESG reporting across several jurisdictions. You will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining alignment across all sustainability disclosures, and coordinating topical reporting while taking ownership of ESG rating agencies. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about understanding evolving ESG regulations, ensuring high quality ESG reporting, and driving excellence in external assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

ESG Regulatory Monitoring

• Monitor emerging ESG reporting legislation in EU, Switzerland, North America, among others.
• Analyze new regulations and assess applicability to Syngenta and its reporting entities
• Conduct gap analyses against new disclosure requirements using our digital tools
• Support with the development of compliance roadmaps: timelines, actions, and owners
• Translate complex regulatory language into actionable requirements for internal teams
• Help prepare regulatory briefings for senior management
• Maintain regulatory tracker/calendar for all ESG reporting deadlines across jurisdictions
• Liaise with Legal, Finance, and regional teams on multi-jurisdictional disclosure obligations

ESG Report Support

• Review ESG report for compliance with regulatory requirements (CSRD/ESRS, Swiss Code among others)
• Support with draft and editing of report narrative requiring regulatory-specific language using our digital tools
• Ensure consistency across ESG reports and other regulatory filings
• Document compliance decisions and rationale for audit trail
• Benchmark peer company ESG reports annually to identify disclosure best practices
• Coordinate response to and submission of country specific statutory reports for supply chain
• Support continuous improvement of reporting processes and team operating model

ESG Ratings Management

• Serve as primary contact for ESG rating agencies for certain entities
• Coordinate completion and submission of ESG rating questionnaires
• Analyze rating methodologies and results to identify improvement opportunities
• Engage with agencies to clarify methodologies, contest inaccuracies, and provide context
• Prepare rating performance reports for leadership showing trends and peer comparisons
• Monitor methodology changes and assess impact on Syngenta's scores

Required Qualifications:

• BSC or MSc degree in Law, Economics, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in ESG reporting, compliance, or related fields
• Background in corporate sustainability, external auditor, ESG advisory, or regulatory compliance
• Experience working in multinational organizations with complex regulatory environments

Demonstrated experience with:

• Interpretation of new ESG reporting laws and regulatory requirements
• ESG reporting compliance and regulatory alignment across multiple frameworks and standards
• Implementation of CSRD / ESRS 
• EcoVadis, CDP and/or Sustainalytics
• Materiality assessments
• External ESG assurance

Soft Skills:

• Strong regulatory and compliance interest and mindset with keen attention to detail
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex regulations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
• Proactive and self-motivated with ability to take ownership of key workstreams
• Collaborative team player with ability to work across functions and geographies
• Problem-solving orientation with focus on continuous improvement
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Eager to learn and remain curious

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of agricultural, chemical, or manufacturing industries is an advantage
• Working knowledge of IFRS ISSB, GRI or SASB ideal
• Working knowledge of TNFD a big plus
• Experience with key IT tools like Ecofact, Harvey, Novisto or Nasdaq is an advantage
• Professional certifications are always welcome
