Job Description
The role of the Assistant Manager (AM) is to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of cashflows of Equity Derivatives trades on behalf of our client. This involves both individually conducting pre-settlement checks and affirmation of the cashflows with counterparties, identifying and resolving any issues that may prevent timely and settlement, as well as monitoring that the team is performing the same.
The settlements function also serves as a layer of control where booking issues such as incorrect economics (wrong direction, currency, index, notional, counterparty, etc.) are detected, escalated, and resolved. To this end, the senior operations analyst is expected to ensure the timely settlement of the cashflow and at the same time identify these risks, fully observing the procedures and policies of the function, both as an individual allocated specific work and as a supervisor of the activities of the team.
The AM is a subject matter expert, serving as a referral and escalation point for the team, as well as performing some control functions such as approving journals and payments, monitoring settlement and payment task stations, and supporting the manager in ensuring the function executes its mandate.
This role reports to the settlements manager, and the AM will be tasked with some supervisory duties by subject matter experts.
