Albany County is seeking an Equipment Operator I for Road and Bridge. This is a full-time position with benefits. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating several types of automotive equipment and performs a variety of manual labor tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent;
Possess experience in operating several types of automotive equipment and machinery;
Possess the ability to lift eighty (80) pounds and work in adverse weather conditions;
Possess a valid Wyoming Class A-CDL driver’s license and have the ability to obtain a T endorsement and a DOT Medical Card;
Employees must demonstrate the ability to follow complex written and verbal directions and have knowledge of traffic and general mechanical aptitude;
Have the ability to work as a team member and independently;
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience operating backhoes, graders, tractors, trucks, and other heavy equipment;
Possess 2 years experience;
The ability to make minor mechanical repairs to equipment
Experience repairing and maintaining roads and bridges.
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the following:
Grade and maintain gravel and dirt surfaced roads;
Repair bridges, auto gates, and replace culverts;
Operate a truck connection with the transportation of sand, stone, gravel, and supplies;
Operate a dump truck carrying tools, equipment and supplies, leaves, snow, brush, sand, gravel, garbage, trash, and dirt;
Operate a tractor with power mower attachment and front-end loader;
Operate a bulldozer in repairing of roadways, along with stockpiling dirt and gravel;
Operate a vibratory roller;
Weld and cut steel to build cattle guards, bumpers and flatbeds for pickups;
Service and perform minor repairs on automotive equipment;
Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment transported;
Plow Roads during and after a snowstorm;
Operate front-end loader, forklift, back hoe, and comparable equipment;
Perform tasks in the shop when not working as a Motor Equipment Operator;
Install and maintain traffic signs;
Operate a computer to keep records to maintain time, service, and material records;
Interpret shop drawings and construction plans;
Operate radio equipment;
Operate transit and level to take grade readings;
Build and repair snow fences;
Operate high pressure water system;
Operate sandblaster;
Prepare holes for blasting;
Install guard railings;
Install, repair, and clean cattle guards;
Set up voting booths and machines;
Performs other duties as required.
