About this role
Are you an aspiring lawyer with a strong interest in commercial law, contracts, and the construction, engineering and infrastructure sector?
We are inviting Expressions of Interest for Undergraduate Internship Opportunities – Legal & Commercial Contracts.
These Brisbane‑based internships give you hands‑on exposure to contract drafting, claims and litigation support, contract administration, procurement interfaces, and legal compliance activities within a major construction and infrastructure organisation.
You’ll contribute during the June/July 2026 semester break and continue two days per week during semester, gaining experience that supports future roles in the specialised construction commercial and legal environment. We anticipate these internships will provide a pathway to our 2027 Graduate intake, subject to performance and business needs.
Responsibilities
Contracts Administration: Assist with reviewing and preparing contract documentation, variations, addendums, and commercial correspondence.
Legal Research & Drafting: Support the in‑house legal and contracts team with legal research, precedent development, and preparation of internal legal summaries.
Claims & Compliance Support: Help prepare documentation for claims, extensions of time, subcontractor assessments and ensure compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
Procurement & Commercial Support: Assist with pre‑award contract checks, supplier onboarding documents, insurance compliance, and tender review support.
Document Control & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate filing, version control and audit‑ready documentation aligned with company procedures.
Cross‑functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, commercial teams, engineers and procurement to understand contractual obligations and commercial risk.
To be considered, you’ll ideally bring
Final or penultimate-year studies in Law (LLB or JD), Business/Law, Commerce/Law (or related).
Strong interest in commercial law, contracts, or construction law.
Excellent written communication skills and the ability to analyse legal and contractual documents.
Strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
Confidence with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); exposure to document management systems is beneficial.
High attention to detail, curiosity to learn, and a proactive, team‑first mindset and interest in understanding how major construction contracts operate.
Availability: Full-time during June/July 2026 break, then 2 days/week during semester (flexible around exams).
