Mission:

The job mission of an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is to ensure a safe and healthy workplace by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance with agencies like OSHA and the EPA, providing employee training, and mitigating potential workplace hazards to prevent injuries, illnesses, and environmental harm.

Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain written environmental and safety standards in accordance with ISO14001. Provide needed training, reviews and updates annually to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act as well as Company Policies and Procedures. Coordinates inspections by the Department of Labor.

Administer and coordinate all environmental / EMS related items and permits as required to comply with local, state and federal regulations. Generate compliance reports as required.  (Examples:  Storm Water permit, Non-contact water permit, and renewable operating permit, air emissions).  Update documents to remain current with latest requirements / legislation.

Provides input in the development stages of current, as well as pending, manufacturing process equipment (includes review of). Responsible for the selection of personal protective equipment and the appropriate fit testing of said items. 

Administration of Worker’s Compensation programs. Authorize injury treatment, as needed.  Compiles open WC issues with appropriate action plan. Follows all WC cases with appropriate tracking and recording keeping. Monitors all accident investigations.

Train employees on all necessary environmental, health & safety programs. Assist and participate in the development of orientation of new hires in the area of environmental, health and safety.

Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling, shipment and disposal.

Provides meaningful statistics to management in a timely manner, to assist in continued improvement of workplace health, safety, environmental and loss control.

Manages any open written consent agreements with State or Federal governments and associated record retention.

Ensure external and internal complaints related to environmental, health or safety are recorded and reported to management.

Serve as approval authority on waste manifests.

Participate in and conduct environmental compliance and conformance audits per ISO14001.

Maintain records in accordance with ISO14001.

Maintain training records and training matrix in accordance with ISO/TS16949.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety

Minimum 5 years related experience in EH&S role preferable in Manufacturing

MIOSHA/OSHA Certification or experience

ISO14001 experience

First Aid Responder Certification
