The Opportunity
The Enterprise Risk Manager oversees the maintenance and implementation of best practice enterprise risk frameworks to meet corporate requirements as well as the Records Management and Privacy Program. In this role the Enterprise Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing all areas of legal and enterprise risk management under the direction of the CCO & VP Corporate Services
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing and maintaining enterprise risk assessment and risk metric reporting processes that facilitate the detection and analysis of trends.
Identifying opportunities for improving risk assessment and monitoring processes.
Development of proposals and recommendations regarding systems and processes, and for the development and implementation of those processes.
Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of Enterprise Risk Programs.
Prepare and manage annual departmental budget, including the review and reporting of variances and determining appropriate steps to ensure expenditures are within authorized limits.
Collaborating with staff across the company to ensure risk management frameworks continue to be effective as the Company continues to grow and evolve.
Complete risk reports for presentation by the Chief Risk Officer to the Senior Risk and Capital Committee and the Board.
Research, develop and maintain risk metrics and key risk indicators for operational risk exposures, including data collection and management processes that facilitate the detection and analysis of trends.
Develop and maintain processes for risk event monitoring and reporting, including a data management framework that facilitates the detection and analysis of trends.
Research, develop and maintain risk quantification tools for operational risk exposures.
Complete annual risk quantifications for enterprise risks, updating assumptions and scenarios in response to emerging trends, company growth, and changes in the company’s business model.
Identify opportunities for improved risk monitoring processes and reporting based on analysis of risk indicator and risk event data, review of emerging risk management practices, and consultation with risk management colleagues and management.
Collaborate with risk management colleagues and other staff to maintain procedures and tools to support risk management frameworks.
Act as a subject matter expert, providing direction to staff on risk management processes and procedures.
Manage and lead initiatives to develop procedures and tools to support new risk management policies and guidelines that may be introduced to address emerging company needs and regulatory expectations.
Maintain and manage the Risk Management SharePoint sites and Teams channels, ensuring they remain current and user friendly.
Prepare and maintain process and user documentation for risk monitoring and reporting tools and processes.
Manage and ensure successful implementation of risk monitoring and reporting improvements, including engaging with lines of business, corporate functions, and other oversight functions as required.
Act on behalf of the team as a subject matter expert for projects that may require changes to risk monitoring data or risk management procedures and tools.
Act as project manager for enterprise risk management initiatives that require coordination across multiple lines of business or corporate functions. Includes scheduling, progress tracking.
Monitor and interpret laws, regulations, and policies that impact the organization.
Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Collaborate with internal departments to assess legal and enterprise risks.
Identify and analyze areas of potential risk and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Support the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
Assist in managing claims, litigation matters, and liaison with external counsel as needed.
Maintain legal and compliance documentation, reports, and tracking systems.
Educate and train internal stakeholders on legal and risk-related matters.
Oversee the Privacy program and Document Management program for the corporation.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Core Capabilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
Canadian Risk Management Designation is required.
Law Clerk or Paralegal certification is an asset.
7+ years of experience in legal support, risk management, or compliance roles.
7+ years of experience in a management role.
Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
Knowledge of Privacy Legislation, including but not limited to MFIPPA
Excellent interpersonal, project/time management, communication, presentation, problem-solving, and staff leadership and supervisory skills with a strong aptitude for adapting to change.
Class ‘G’ Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
Availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or other events as required.
