Enterprise Architect -  S/4HANA

We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect (external consultant) to provide strategic, project‑focused architectural guidance for our S/4HANA environment and associated Individual Projects Portfolio. The architect will work exclusively on programs and projects, aligned with current Enterprise Architecture capacity and priorities.

Responsibilities:
• Provide architectural guidance, oversight and governance on S/4HANA and Individual Portfolio projects
• Support S/4 Programme governance in close cooperation with the internal Lead Enterprise Architect and the vendor’s Lead Enterprise Architect; ensure aligned architectural direction across all programme dimensions
• Design and validate enterprise and domain architectures (business, data, application, technology) within assigned programmes
• Support RFP/RFI processes for vendor, solution evaluation and selection from an architectural perspective
• Ensure architectural consistency, integration and alignment across project workstreams
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define target processes and solution concepts
• Produce high‑quality architectural documentation required for programme execution (including but not limited to Architecture Visions, High-Level Design Documents, Architecture Board decision materials)
• Work closely with project teams and solution architects to ensure compliance with target architecture
• Identify project‑level opportunities for process improvement, standardisation and cost optimisation
• Facilitate cross-project dependency and rick management, mitigation

Scope Areas:
• Global S/4HANA template design, supporting E2E process definition (L1–L4)
• Preparation and execution of S/4 programme RFP deliverables
• Target process and concept design for Management Accounting (CO)
• Consolidation target solution evaluation (embedded vs. 3rd party)
• Group‑level management reporting & analytics framework with SAP and non-SAP integration
• Product costing target model definition (Global Template Design input)
• Chart of Accounts harmonisation for S4 CO/FI

Planning & Enterprise Performance Management:
• Planning process design and implementation (Phase I)
• Extended planning model and implementation (Phase II) – including target alignment with Sales & Operational planning, S4/HANA Transformation

Data & Integration Architecture:
• Group‑wide data governance and data management framework
• S4‑aligned target data model, ownership and data quality framework
• SKU/material harmonisation concept
• Global EDI and OCR process architecture and S4 integration
• Master data enrichment concept for S4
• Laboratory test integration concept with S4 integration

Logistics, Manufacturing & Operational Domains:
• Transportation Management target architecture and S4 integration readiness
• Warehouse, QM and operational process concepts for S4 transition readiness
• Production and product costing process harmonisation for S4 consistency

Cross functional Improvement Initiatives:
• As‑is process mining using Celonis to support template design
• Strategic RFI/RFP preparation for selected initiatives
• Treasury & cash management solution evaluation (embedded vs. 3rd party)
• Travel management tooling evaluation with S4 integration requirements

Requirements:
• University degree in a relevant field
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, incl. 5+ years of proven expertise in an Enterprise Architect role
• Strong experience with capability-based design
• Proficiency in architecture frameworks: TOGAF, ITIL, ArchiMate, UML
• Fluent written and spoken business English
• Strong strategic mindset paired with excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably MS AZURE)

• Experience in manufacturing and/or logistics domains
• Familiarity with ERP (SAP), CRM, and other enterprise-grade systems
