This position will support the Artillery Propulsion Mobilization Effort at Picatinny Arsenal.
What will you be doing?
This position will be a key member of the Propulsion Engineering Branch. Duties include:
Serve as an engineering technician supporting design, expansion, new construction, facilitization, prove-out, and low-rate initial production of energetic (or hazardous) facilities in support of the National Technology Industrial Base (NTIB).
Participate as a key member of a multi-disciplined integrated product team (IPT). Provide review of drawings and specifications against contractor provided documents including OCONUS Nitroguanidine Expansion, stand up of a new CONUS Nitroguanidine facility, and recrystallization of stockpiled Nitroguanidine.
Review documents such as performance work statements (PWS), contract data requirement lists (CDRL’s), safety site plans, project specifications, deliberate risk analyses, and other technical documentation associated with expansion and new construction of energetic facilities.
Deliver technical advice to Project Officers and engineering teams on system functionality, performance, maintenance documentation, and lifecycle logistics.
Ensure Compliance with Safety and Regulatory Standards:
Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols, including OSHA, ATF, EPA, and international safety standards for handling and processing energetic materials.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and processes to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Collaborate with Multinational Teams. Work with international teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination between the OCONUS and CONUS facilities. Adapt to cultural and regulatory differences when supporting OCONUS operations.
What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?
This position will require the following skillsets and experience:
Must be able to take and pass AMMO-45 online certification and appropriate safety training provided by DEVCOM Armament Center
Must have good mechanical skills and experience
Ability to read/interpret Army technical manuals and engineering drawings.
Experience with energetic operations and facilities is strongly preferred
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain security clearance through the DoD security background investigation process
Pass drug testing
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly
Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
High School diploma required, College degree not required but beneficial
Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply
Must be available to travel a minimum of 10%
