Job Title: Engineering Technician
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Manager
SUMMARY
Functionally test, troubleshoot, assemble, repair or rework, calibrate, maintain and certify a variety of Optical, Mechanical and Electronic subassemblies, assemblies and completed instruments, fixtures, devices and products. Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation. Perform duties using test equipment in accordance with prescribed and ad hoc procedures, practices and specifications. To aid the transition of prototype products into production by working with engineers and production personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Construct cables and new test fixtures from drawings and specifications.
Assists with research, development and production support.
Prepares and conducts experiments, collects data, calculates and/or records results.
Prepares and manages records necessary for certification and calibration of equipment.
General office and laboratory duties such as filing, organizing, and cleaning.
Assists with the design, development, testing, and manufacture of products and other equipment.
May use computer-aided design to design and/or refine tooling and products
Test and inspect machines and equipment to assist engineering in production support.
Develops methods and devices used in the prevention, control, or remediation of environmental hazards.
Tests preexisting designs and design prototypes.
Support transition of prototypes to production.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

This position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
AA Degree in a technical field or and minimum of 5 years related experience or combination of education and experience, preferably in an electro-mechanical assembly and test environment, examples of which are below:
Sound knowledge of related test practices, processes and procedures.
Experience with CAD drawing programs such as Solidworks, preferred
Ability to operate many types of electronic test equipment.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work independently, be self-directed and balance multiple priorities.
Ability to troubleshoot test processes and use judgment in resolving problems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
