With millions of users across the globe, we process over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries, proving that borders shouldn't limit financial opportunity.

The Role

As an Engineering Manager in the Engagement & Platform Squad, you will lead the team behind two critical drivers of our growth: building cross-product engagement capabilities — such as in-app communication, referrals, loyalty programs, and customer support — and shaping the architecture of our BackOffice platform that powers internal operations. You will set technical direction, elevate engineering standards, and ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable systems that serve customers around the world.

This is a high-impact leadership role with meaningful ownership. You will support and grow a team of engineers while partnering closely with Product, Data, and Growth to translate strategy into measurable outcomes and sustained business impact.

How You’ll Contribute

• Drive Technical Strategy: Guide architectural decisions, influence system design, and ensure scalable, reliable solutions.

• Raise Engineering Standards: Uphold high quality across implementation, testing, observability, and long-term maintainability.

• Mentor & Grow Talent: Support engineers and technical leads through structured coaching, feedback, and development plans.

• Align With Business Goals: Partner cross-functionally to prioritise work, clarify requirements, and deliver impactful outcomes.

• Enable Team Effectiveness: Remove blockers, bring clarity to ambiguity, and support strong decision-making across squads.

• Evolve Engineering Practices: Improve tooling, workflows, and processes to support long-term quality and velocity.

• Lead With Care: Conduct regular 1:1s, manage performance, and support engineers’ growth and career progression.

Who You Are

What You’ll Bring

• Experience building and scaling backend systems in with strong SQL fundamentals

• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, DDD, and modular architectures

• Strong grounding in observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and secure coding practices

• Familiarity with async processing patterns (queues, coroutines, message bus) and containerisation (Docker)

• Ability to design efficient, secure AWS architectures
