Engineering Manager – Power Distribution Systems (Low Voltage Switchboards)

Salary: Starting at $160,000+ (flexible based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the design and delivery of low-voltage power distribution equipment, with a strong focus on switchboard systems used in data center environments. This role blends technical oversight with team leadership, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with industry standards.
The position works closely with manufacturing, customers, and internal teams to drive performance, quality, and on-time delivery.
Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead and mentor a team of electrical and mechanical engineers
• Promote accountability, ownership, and timely execution of engineering deliverables
• Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications
• Drive improvements in engineering workflows, tools, and documentation practices
Design Oversight & Product Execution
• Oversee the development of low-voltage switchboard systems (including UL 891 and UL 1558 applications)
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements, one-line diagrams, and system performance expectations
• Guide system-level design decisions including breakers, bus configurations, controls, metering, and protection schemes
• Support efforts to standardize designs and improve scalability through modular approaches
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and production-ready
• Support sales and estimating teams with technical input, including BOM development and quoting alignment
• Participate in customer discussions, including design reviews and technical clarifications
• Coordinate with supply chain on component selection and vendor engagement
Quality, Compliance & Testing
• Ensure adherence to UL, NEC, and other relevant industry standards
• Support factory testing, system validation, and commissioning activities
• Maintain documentation related to certifications, testing, and design verification
Project & Program Management
• Manage engineering schedules to meet overall project timelines
• Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies
• Support execution of large-scale and complex programs
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 7+ years of experience in switchboard or power distribution system design
• Previous experience leading or managing engineering teams
• Strong knowledge of UL standards, NEC requirements, and data center power systems
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing and cross-functional teams
