We are searching for an empathic Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and support two exceptional engineering teams (Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Productivity) that build and run scalable, reliable, and state-of-the-art platform services for the Scout24 organization.

Our application platform organization is responsible for Scout24's developer productivity, cloud infrastructure, and reliability landscape. The platform supports various networking, persistence, and compute requirements for all Scout24 applications and provides seamless capabilities and integrations for our internal developers. We embrace a culture of ownership—teams are responsible for their services end-to-end, while they leverage the platform services we provide.

In this role you will directly influence and contribute towards the vision, strategy, and delivery of platform services, as well as the related tooling for building, maintaining, and operating fault-tolerant applications at scale. You will also develop and integrate observability services that help our engineers gain valuable insights into their applications.

How your role will look like:

• Lead, mentor, and support two exceptional engineering teams (Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Productivity)

• Directly influence and contribute towards the vision and delivery of platform services, as well as the related tooling for building, maintaining, and operating fault-tolerant applications at scale

• You will also develop and integrate observability services that help our engineers gain valuable insights into their applications

• Close collaboration with your technical lead and senior technical product manager counterpart on the vision and strategy of our internal platform

• Successfully streamlining work across various engineering department

• Organize and own the successful delivery of various platform initiatives, leveraging your existing technical skillset and agile methodologies

What you need to succeed:

• Strong hands-on experience building, leading, and nurturing successful software engineering teams

• Make cultivating your team a central focus—sustain their engagement through challenging objectives and transparent feedback that enables meaningful growth

• Empathy for developers and passion for internal platforms as a service to help organizations scale, maximize efficiency and simplicity

• Ability to guide your team to gain an in-depth understanding of the domain and deliver valuable services that are secure, reliable, and cost-efficient

• Leadership and participation in cross-functional technical design discussions

• Collaboration skills to work with your technical lead and product manager counterpart on the vision and strategy of our internal platform. As well as collaborating with other teams and departments

• Experience leveraging AI tools to drive problem-solving and productivity, maintaining effective human oversight and judgement.

• Several years of hands-on experience as a software engineer

• Strong understanding of core distributed systems concepts, such as fault-tolerance, consistency, and distributed rate-limiting

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining foundational cloud infrastructure based on AWS

• Experience managing compute workloads with EKS, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, or other orchestration and compute solutions

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Datadog, incident.io, and ELK

• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or Python is a plus
