Engineering Manager - Networking Infrastructure

Within this group, the Gateway Team is responsible for the "Front Door" of Roblox. We own the critical infrastructure that manages all traffic entering Roblox (Ingress) and traffic crossing major architectural boundaries.

You Will:

• Lead the Gateway team to deliver best-in-class traffic management infrastructure

• Drive the design and implementation of major "Moonshot" initiatives

• Consolidate our ingress stack and "Platformize" the gateway to enable extensibility for developer teams

• Own the reliability of Tier-0 systems

• Mentor engineers and team leads, ensuring sustainable on-call rotations and continuous career growth

You Have:

• 3+ years of engineering management experience, specifically managing teams responsible for high-scale distributed systems or networking platforms

• Strong technical background in Layer 7 networking, HTTP/HTTPS, Reverse Proxies, and API Gateway patterns

• Experience guiding teams through major architectural migrations (e.g., monolith to microservices, legacy proxy to modern mesh/gateway)

• A track record of hiring and nurturing a high-performing engineering team

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and handle complex product requirements

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range
$293,800—$343,340 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
