THIS ROLE:
The Engineering Manager, Dredging oversees the strategic planning, maintenance, and operational readiness of Curtin Maritime’s dredge assets. This role leads the Port Engineering team, manages complex maintenance initiatives, and ensures full regulatory and safety compliance across the fleet. Success in this role requires strong leadership, technical depth, and a disciplined approach to planning and communication.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Fleet Compliance & Operational Support
Ensure all dredge assets comply with regulatory bodies including ABS, USCG, and USACE.
Oversee planned and unplanned maintenance for all dredge equipment.
Coordinate with operations leadership regarding asset readiness and operational decisions.
Provide guidance and direction to Port Engineers in maintenance planning and budgeting.
Serve as a secondary point of contact for vessel engineering matters.
Identify and implement innovative technologies to enhance fleet reliability
Engineering Policies, Procedures & Training
Enforce engineering policies and procedures across all vessels.
Participate in and support technical training programs.
Financial & Budget Management
Support Port Engineers in developing annual maintenance budgets based on historical and forecasted work.
Manage department budgets and communicate adjustments as needed.
Assist with procurement of major parts and equipment to ensure cost effective, timely acquisition.
Vessel Management System Oversight
Support creation and implementation of maintenance schedules within Helm Connect.
Monitor completion of engineering tasks and corrective actions.
Ensure consistent and accurate use of the VMS across all vessels.
Travel
Travel to project sites and shipyards is required to support asset oversight and major maintenance activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of dredging or maritime industry experience.
Active TWIC card.
Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and hydrodynamics preferred.

Able to safely handle heavy lines, hoses, tools, and mechanical equipment.
Tolerant of environmental exposures including noise, dust, and mechanical hazards.
