This role involves conducting technical assessments, developing customized energy-saving solutions, and ensuring the successful execution of energy efficiency (EE) projects in industrial, commercial, and municipal sectors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Energy Efficiency Solution Development
• Design and implement mechanical energy efficiency solutions, including HVAC, chillers, AHU, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and compressed air systems.
• Develop Thermal Energy Storage (TES) solutions, integrating them into energy efficiency projects to optimize cooling demand and reduce peak energy consumption.
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and thermal modelling to enhance energy performance.
2. Technical Assessment and System Analysis
• Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing mechanical systems for inefficiencies and potential energy-saving opportunities.
• Analyze energy usage trends, system performance, and process inefficiencies to recommend improvements.
• Work closely with the Energy Analyst to interpret audit findings and translate them into actionable mechanical energy solutions.
3. Project Execution and Implementation
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of mechanical energy efficiency solutions, ensuring proper integration into client facilities.
• Conduct performance testing and measurement & verification (M&V) to ensure that implemented solutions meet expected energy savings.
• Collaborate with electrical energy solutions engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical energy-saving strategies for holistic EE projects.
• Communicate with stakeholders to understand their energy goals, address their concerns, and provide regular updates on project status and performance.
4. Research and Innovation
• Stay updated on advanced mechanical energy efficiency technologies, including next-generation TES, HVAC automation, and energy recovery systems.
• Identify and evaluate new products, design methods, and best practices to enhance energy efficiency project outcomes.
5. Compliance and Reporting
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, energy efficiency act and standards, and green building certifications (e.g., ISO 50001, GreenRE, LEED).
• Prepare and present detailed technical reports, system designs, and project proposals for internal and client review.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in energy efficiency, HVAC, or mechanical system optimization projects.
• Knowledge of Thermal Energy Storage (TES), HVAC automation, and mechanical energy efficiency strategies.
•
• Experience in project execution, performance validation, and system commissioning.
• Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 2 or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is a plus.
Skills and Attributes:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying energy-saving opportunities.
• Excellent technical expertise in HVAC, chiller systems, and thermal energy management.
• Ability to multi-task, willing to learn and grow, able to work systematically and demonstrate accountability.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong presentation and report-writing abilities.
• Passion for sustainability, energy efficiency and clean energy solutions.
