Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Employment Attorney or HR Compliance Lawyer to review company employment policies and ensure compliance with California labor laws.
Job Type: Freelance
Location: Remote / In-Office
Requirement: California Attorney License Mandatory
Preference: Multi State License Preferred
Responsibilities
Review employment policies, handbooks, and HR procedures
Identify legal and compliance risks
Advise on California labor law and employee relations matters
Review onboarding, termination, leave, wage & hour, and workplace policies
Recommend policy updates and compliance improvements
Requirements
Active California Attorney License (Mandatory)
Strong experience in California employment and labor law
Knowledge of:
California Labor Code
Wage & Hour laws
Employee classification
Harassment & discrimination compliance
FMLA/CFRA laws
Excellent communication and legal review skills
Preferred
California resident
Experience with startups, small businesses, or multi-state employers
HR compliance and Policies review experience
