In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Employee Relation Superintendent
The Employee Relations Superintendent will develop and implement employee relations strategies and initiatives that drive business objectives, to establish systems and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and regulations and to build labour relations capability throughout the organization
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the Human Resources Manager to implement proactive employee relations programs that facilitate constructive dialogue and maintain positive relations with management and employees.
Assist management in the implementation of labour relations policies, particularly in relation to communication structures as well as disciplinary, grievance and dispute settling procedures.
Advise leadership on labor relations issues, provide vulnerability audits, conduct labor relations training and work with HR staff to maintain an environment of positive employee relations
Lead co-design sessions between employee grievance committee and management to create win-win opportunities on strategic issues and initiatives.
Represent the company at dismissal board hearings, meetings with the Ministry of Labour and external governing agencies
Provide information, recommendations and support regarding proposed legislation and/or regulations relating to labor, employment and Human Resources matters.
Review existing policies for hourly and monthly (salaried) employees, benchmark against best practices and develop harmonized guidelines. Facilitate change management sessions to ensure successful implementation.
Lead Negotiations
Develop negotiations strategy based on analysis of employee grievance mechanism and understanding of intent, spirit and terms of contract. Review and understand economic and political trends. Analyze competitive compensation survey data.
Lead the negotiations team
Prepare related reports and summaries as required
Manage a Team accountable for Employee Relations Service Delivery and Administration
Ensure the team proactively handles all LR related activities.
Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required.
Ensure that training is provided to the team in accordance with the future needs of direct reports and mine staff.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
Complete all time entry, vacation requests and schedules.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
University Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or Employee Relations.
Professional HR designation.
10 - 12 years experience in progressively responsible Eabor Relations roles, preferably in mining industry
Knowledgeable on agreement structures and terms
Good negotiation and deal making skills
Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication
Ability to communicate complex problems clearly – both written and orally
Multi-cultural awareness
Sense of urgency
Working Conditions
Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
