Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role requires rapid clinical decision-making, management of high-acuity and undifferentiated patients, and coordination of care across multiple specialties to ensure timely, high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
• Perform emergency medical procedures, including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound management, and fracture stabilization, consistent with training and privileges
• Rapidly assess and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical urgency
• Interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
• Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans, including admission, transfer, or discharge
• Collaborate with consulting services, nursing staff, EMS, and ancillary teams
• Participate in trauma, stroke, STEMI, and sepsis response protocols, as applicable
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives
• Supervise and educate residents, advanced practice providers, and learners, as applicable
• Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited emergency medicine residency program
• Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine
• Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
• DEA registration or eligibility
• BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification as required

Work Environment
• Emergency department within an acute care hospital
• Shift-based scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and move continuously throughout clinical shifts
• Manual dexterity for emergency procedures
• Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and rapid response
Requirements:
Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
