Job Description
Your mission:
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test and maintain embedded software for robotic systems running on microcontrollers in modern C++ (ARM Cortex-M, ESP32 platforms). Use of Rust on the ESP32 platform is planned.
- Integrate software with new hardware designs
- Design, implement and tune control algorithms
- Develop software infrastructure to assist running our robots in the field (e.g. for OTA software updates or telemetry, written in Rust running on Linux)
- Collaborate with engineers of other disciplines on system architecture and integration
Your profile:
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related fields
- Provable experience with modern C++ (C++11 or newer)
- Experience with developing software for microcontrollers, preferably STM32 or other ARM Cortex-M devices
- You apply software engineering methods and best practices in your embedded software development to write maintainable and testable software
- Experience with version control systems, preferably git
- Familiarity with one or more communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc.)
- Basic understanding of control systems (e.g. PID controllers)
- Knowledge of basic electronics concepts and ability to read a schematic
- Strong English language skills (written and spoken), German is beneficial
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of the Rust programming language
- Understanding of control theory and practical experience implementing FOC control of brushless motors
- Experience with state estimation algorithms (e.g. Kalman filter) and digital signal processing
- Basic Python programming
- Experience with FreeRTOS
Why us?:
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our robotics team. In this role, you will primarily focus on designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for robotic systems running on microcontrollers.
You’ll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to bring complete robotic products from concept to reality. Your ideas and technical expertise will directly shape the design and performance of our robots, giving you a tangible impact on the final product.
This is a hands-on role suited for engineers who enjoy working close to the hardware and seeing their software directly control real-world systems.
