Role Overview:
The Elevator Servicing Technician is a crucial team member responsible for the proper installation, servicing, repair, and maintenance of elevator and lift systems. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to ensure elevator safety, compliance, and performance. The technician will interpret technical drawings, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and assist in installations as needed, maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Main Key Responsibilities:
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of elevator equipment, including proper operation and maintenance procedures.
Service, inspect, and repair elevator systems, including wiring, control panels, doors, and safety devices.
Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manuals to perform correct maintenance procedures.
Test and commission newly installed or repaired equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
Conduct inspections of wiring connections, control panel hookups, door alignments, and clearance checks.
Keep detailed logs of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, identify faulty parts, and replace or repair as necessary.
Assist with elevator installation projects, including reading drawings, and coordinating with engineers and clients.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of work areas and equipment.
Provide on-the-job training and support to team members as needed.
Order parts and supplies required for repairs and maintenance.
Participate in ongoing training to stay current with technological advancements and safety standards.
Desired Qualities:
Proven experience in elevator maintenance, repair, or installation.
Strong knowledge of elevator components, wiring, control systems, and mechanical parts.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with clients, engineers, and team members.
Comfortable working at heights and performing physically demanding tasks.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to elevator systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role.
Valid technical certification or diploma in elevator technology, electrical, mechanical, or related field would be considered an asset.
Be physically fit and able to lift heavy weights.
