Electrical Technician (SY-RF-AC-2026-15-GRAE)

As an Electrical Technician, you will participate under the guidance of engineers in the electrical and electronics development, wiring and testing required for the upgrade of high-power radio frequency amplifiers, their control and power supplies.

Your responsibilities:

In each area under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers you will:

• Modify or create schematics using Electronics and Electricity software (such as Cadence, Altium Designer, See Electrical or Eplan).
• Dismount obsolete equipments and cables to prepare the upgrade of old systems.
• Build, wire and test electrical crates (and perhaps electronics boards).
• Install and test various equipment (serviced or new) such as: power supplies, control boards, current sensors.
• Be involved in the development, wiring and testing of high-power radio frequency equipment (from electrical distribution through high voltage to control electronics).
• Have the opportunity to receive training in various advanced techniques used in the field of high-power radio frequency: maintenance, testing of RF systems and specific RF measurements.
• Contribute to quality documentation and be fully integrated into the R&D team, which includes engineers and students.
• And as a member of the team, you will also follow up the operation of the different RF systems of the section as part of an on-call service.

Your profile:

• First or short experience allowed.
• Proficient in Electrical wiring and assembling, knowledge in Electronics would be valuable.

• Strong willingness to learn and continuously improve.
• Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electricité / Electronique (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
• Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Fully Onsite

This position involves:

• Work in Radiation Areas.
• Interventions in underground installations.
• A valid driving licence.
• Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.
