As an Electrical Technician in protection and control (P&C), you will be able to participate in the design of high-level diagrams, the development of the protection philosophy and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation projects, hydroelectric power plants and renewable energy projects with many clients across Canada.    

Job Responsibilities  

• Design Protection & Control systems with SDS software (Smart AutoCAD Electrical)  
• Prepare project deliverables including detail drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, equipment sizing, etc.  
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks  
• Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided  
• Participate in the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-wire AC diagrams, protection and control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and specifications for the manufacture and installation on site of Control and Protection panels  
• Participate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC and DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.  
• Participate in site surveys (substations and power stations)  
• Prepare cable schedule, panel wirings and DC schematics  
• Coordinate with the engineering disciplines: apparatus, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems  
• Ability to carry out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)  

• College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technologies or equivalent related discipline  
• 3+ years of relevant experience  
• Basic knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)  
• Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is an asset  
• Work experience in the design of electrical systems is an asset  
• Experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada 
• Experience using AutoCAD software with P&C drawings is an asset  

The expected salary for this position is from $69,500 to $92,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
