Electrical Design Engineer – Power & Control Systems
Location: Henrico, VA
Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Compensation: Starts at $90,000+ annually (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the development of power distribution and control systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on and involves working closely with engineering, production, and project teams to design, implement, and support electrical solutions from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop electrical systems used in power distribution and control applications
• Create and maintain electrical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
• Support both new product development and enhancements to existing systems
• Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory standards and internal procedures
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and operations teams
• Maintain and organize engineering documentation and design files
• Collaborate with project management from order release through final delivery
• Track progress against project timelines and support schedule adherence
• Participate in project meetings to ensure alignment and on-time execution
• Work with cross-functional teams to apply best practices in product development
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE required)
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power systems design
• U.S. citizenship required
• Experience designing electrical control systems, including relay logic, breakers, contactors, and metering systems
• Working knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens experience strongly preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (latest version required)
• Strong understanding of electrical wiring systems and integration within structures or equipment
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to electrical system design and product development
• Experience with electromechanical system integration
