Job Title: Elders Driver

Salary Range: $23.00 per hour
Location: Oakhurst, CA (Onsite – Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not permitted)

JOB SUMMARY
The Elders Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of meals and essential items to Tribal Elders within the designated service area. This position supports daily delivery routes and program needs, which are generally consistent but may vary based on scheduling, service demands, or coverage needs. In addition to deliveries, the Driver serves as a regular point of contact with Tribal Elders, maintaining a respectful, professional presence and communicating any concerns observed during deliveries. This role requires reliability, safe driving practices, and a strong commitment to service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Deliver daily meals and approved items to Tribal Elders along an assigned route in a timely and consistent manner
Load, transport, and unload meals and supplies safely and efficiently
Maintain respectful, professional interactions with Tribal Elders during deliveries
Observe and report any concerns related to Elder wellbeing or service needs to appropriate staff
Follow established routes and adjust as needed for traffic, weather, or other conditions
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, ensure adequate fuel levels, and report any maintenance needs
Keep accurate mileage and delivery records as required
Communicate effectively with program staff regarding schedules, delays, or issues
Provide backup support for other drivers as needed
Follow all food handling and safety procedures during transport and delivery
Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED required
Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
At least one (1) year of driving experience
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in varying road and weather conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform frequent entry and exit from a vehicle
Ability to maintain a consistent schedule and complete assigned routes reliably
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in delivery driving or transportation services
Food Handler’s Certification (training will be provided if not currently certified)
Familiarity with local roads and the surrounding service area
Experience working with Tribal communities or elder populations

TRIBAL PREFERENCE STATEMENT:
In accordance with applicable Tribal law and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) Administration provides employment preference to enrolled PRCI Tribal Members. To qualify, applicants must submit valid proof of enrollment. Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications will be given preference in hiring, promotion, transfer, and layoff decisions. During the interview process, PRCI Tribal Members will receive an additional 7.5 points (10% of the 75-point interview rubric). Non-PRCI Native American candidates will receive an additional 5 points (6.7% of the total points) in accordance with Indian Preference guidelines.
INDIAN PREFERENCE STATEMENT:
In compliance with 25 CFR Part 276 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Sections 701(b) and 703(i), employment preference shall be given to qualified applicants who are enrolled members of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, and secondarily, to another qualified American Indian/Alaska Native Candidate.
