A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develops, administers and implements environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements and corporate standards.

• Monitors pollution prevention activities, compliance performance and auditing efforts to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal policies.

• Conducts studies and prepares environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes and permit changes.

• Reviews and analyzes environmental and safety documentation issued by regulatory agencies; collaborates with regulatory authorities to determine and implement corrective action plans.

• Determines the impact of regulatory requirements on company operations and develops compliance strategies, procedures and implementation plans.

• Evaluates proposed regulations to determine financial, operational, industrial, public and environmental impact to the organization.

• Interacts with regulatory agencies to resolve compliance issues and supports inspections and audits.

• Represents the company in government and industry rule-making activities and maintains strong external relationships.

• Identifies, evaluates and takes corrective action against activities that pose potential threats to workers’ health or safety, including: Recommending engineering, administrative and procedural controls Improving work methods, processes and materials Inspecting workplace environments, equipment and practices Investigating incidents and identifying root causes

• Leads incident investigations and ensures implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.

• Develops and implements industrial hygiene programs, including: Chemical exposure monitoring Noise and illumination assessments Ergonomic risk evaluations Control of environmental and occupational exposures

• Serves as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex EHS risks, including: Industrial hygiene Process safety (hazardous materials and processes) Radiation safety (if applicable)

• Leads and drives risk reduction initiatives focused on: First Aid and recordable injury reduction High-risk activities (e.g., confined spaces, hot work, pressure systems) Elimination or substitution of hazards

• Supports and leads Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure risks are properly evaluated and controlled before implementation of new processes, equipment or materials.

• Leads cross-functional EHS projects focused on process improvement, risk elimination and workplace safety enhancements.

• Translates regulatory requirements into operational procedures, standards and training programs.

• May provide and promote employee awareness and training on environmental, health and safety matters.

• Mentors and provides technical guidance to EHS engineers and coordinators, supporting capability development within the team.

• Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Safety, Environmental or related field).

• 4+ years of relevant EHS experience (or equivalent advanced degree).

• Strong knowledge of industrial safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Communication and Influence: Communicates with senior internal and external customers and vendors.
Exchange information of facts, statuses, ideas and issues to achieve objective, and influence decision-making.

Leadership and Talent Management: May provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
May manage projects, requiring delegation of work and review of others' work product.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
