Overview: The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications and nominations for an educationalist in a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. We are seeking a dynamic faculty committed to advancing excellence in veterinary education, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting academic success among our students. Furthermore, we are pursuing an innovative, creative, collaborative faculty to engage within an inspired academic community to reimagine and transform veterinary medical education aimed at creating a vibrant learning ecosystem that graduates not only career ready, but future ready veterinarians to meet the ever-evolving healthcare needs of the 21st Century and beyond. This position is intended to play a critical role in shaping the future of veterinary education, developing excellence in faculty educators, and ensuring graduates are career and future ready.
Primary responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarly activities. Teaching activities include those associated with advancing and measuring the quality of veterinary education through instructional innovation, curriculum development, faculty support, and student engagement, as well as participation in some courses in the veterinary curriculum. Service activities vary according to individual preference and program needs. Scholarly activities depend upon the goals of the individual and time assignment to scholarship. A typical time assignment for this position is 25% teaching, 75% scholarly activities, and 5% service.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Promote a culture of educational innovation.
Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and enhancement by collaboration with faculty to design, review, and update the veterinary curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices in education and accreditation standards.
Contribute to instructional design and support by providing guidance on instructional strategies, assessment methods, and use of educational technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Oversee faculty development by organizing and delivering workshops, seminars, and consultations focused on pedagogical/andragogical skills, innovative teaching methods, and assessment techniques.
Contribute to student success and engagement by developing resources and programs to support student learning, including study skills workshops, mentoring schemes, and feedback systems.
Contribute to quality assurance by participating in the evaluation of courses and programs, analyzing feedback from students and faculty, and implementing improvements to enhance educational outcomes.
Promote and support interdisciplinary collaboration by working with faculty and external partners to integrate relevant educational innovations and foster interdisciplinary approaches.
Engage in scholarly activity related to pedagogy/andragogy, including research, authorship, presentations at conferences, teaching innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of faculty and students in their scholarly activities.
Provide service to Lyon College and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events, and working with professional organizations and groups.
Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professional education.
For all positions:
Promote the mission of LCSVM to all faculty, staff, students, and to the local, state, national, and international communities, as appropriate.
Contribute to a culture of academic creativity, innovation, and collaboration that fosters student and faculty
Promote effective, collaborative, inclusive working relationships among faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
Advance the principles of andragogy and pedagogy throughout LCSVM.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Rank:
Rank will be either Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor depending upon qualifications and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the delivery of education, especially veterinary/medical education, including an understanding of the principles of andragogy and pedagogy and their application in a professional curriculum.
Demonstrated record of advancing innovation and creativity in learning and scholarly pursuits.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
Record of successfully contributing to collaborative teams.
Excellent communications skills.
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented success.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s or doctoral degree in education or related, relevant discipline.
Preferred:
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or educational research, preferably in a health sciences or veterinary context.
Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school.
Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings.
Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship, and/or medical research.
DVM or equivalent degree is optional.
Work Environment: This position will be based at the new Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine in Cabot, Arkansas. The LCSVM is co-located with Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS). CASS is a local, state, and national model for shelter medicine, animal welfare, community relations, and education.
