Organization Overview
LDS - Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing, innovative, research-based, educational nonprofit charity serving children, youth and adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia and other brain-based differences like ADHD and ASD. Our growing, affordable programs and services operate throughout Canada live online, from our Learning Centres in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in Access, our electric vehicle mobile classroom.
Purpose of Position
Instructors work one-to-one with school-aged (Kindergarten to grade 12) learners, delivering individualized and comprehensive learning support that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-based.
Principal Roles and Responsibilities
Deliver one-to-one instruction in our East Vancouver Learning Centre, both in-person and live online
Create and maintain a learning environment that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners
Identify learner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment
Draw from multiple resources and curricula, develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for your assigned learners that are individualized, neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based, technology-enhanced and linked to measurable learning goals
Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology
Requirements & Competencies
Successful candidates for the instructor role have the ability to perform the above-listed principal roles and responsibilities with minimal to moderate support. This typically requires the following experience and competencies.
Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
Experience teaching the following: literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach, math focused on building conceptual understanding, and support for executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning. Open positions may list additional specific required instructional experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission
Self-motivated and self-directed
Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
Eligibility to work in Canada
Job type and hours of work: Part-Time Contract
Our contractors primarily have full-time or part-time employment outside of their work with LDS.
Contract instructors work between 6 and 20 hours per week, plus paid prep time of up to 20 minutes per session. Contractors select set weekly days and times they are available for online sessions, and must maintain the same availability from September to June, without disruption. Contractors are responsible for invoicing monthly for their hours worked and are not eligible for extended benefits. Available hours are:
Any/All weekdays 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm
Job type and hours of work: Full-Time Salaried
Our full-time salaried instructors work 37.5 hours per week, across 5 days. These are full-time, ongoing positions without an end date. Hours may differ during July and August. Available options are:
Monday to Friday, 11:30 am-7:30 pm
Tuesday to Friday 11:30 am-7:30 pm and Saturday 9 am- 5 pm
Ideal full-time candidates have strong experience with at least math and literacy K-7. Ability to teach levels above this (BC middle/secondary curriculum) are also an asset.

Reports to:
Instructors report to the Senior Manager, Instruction and Innovation, and work closely with their assigned Case Manager(s) during the academic term.
Remuneration and Benefits:
Wage: $28-33/hour for contract instructors; $55,000 - $62,000 for salaried instructors
Financial assistance for those needing to relocate is available.
$1,000 (based on FTE; prorated for fewer weekly hours) contribution to RRSP or equivalent in 2026. For reference, note that our organization is currently researching if and how we may participate in retirement savings / pension plan options. Updates on this may be offered during the interview process.
