Dump Truck Drivers are essential in driving production on site and in the trench. They are expected to have demonstrated competency to a supervisor, or designated mentor, in all Core Responsibilities of a Dump Truck Driver.
Your day-to-day will look like: duties will include:
Operate commercial dump trucks, including trailers to haul materials to and from construction sites.
Oversee safe loading and unloading of materials, ensuring even distribution and securement.
Accurately track loads, verify ticket information, and ensure compliance with weight restrictions.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicle.
Adjust routes based on traffic, road restrictions, and site access conditions.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site foremen regarding schedules, material types, and any delays.
You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:
Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience operating a tandem dump truck and pony trailers in a construction setting.
Experience and knowledge of the Central and South Vancouver Island roadways.
Valid Class 1 BC Driver’s License with a clean commercial and personal driver’s abstract.
Experience driving in tight spaces and urban job sites is an asset.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of BC’s commercial transportation regulations and safety requirements.
Comfortable navigating construction sites and roadways with limited maneuvering space.
Ability to safely tarp loads and ensure cargo security.
Proficient with GPS navigation and capable of adjusting to routing changes in real time.
Report incidents, near misses, or mechanical issues immediately and without hesitation.
Interpersonal Skills:
Positive attitude and strong commitment to safety.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Reliable team player with a professional and respectful demeanor.
Customer-service oriented when interacting with clients or the public.
