Schedule: 7 on / 7 off rotation

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled
Dual-Ticket Instrumentation Technician / Journeyman Electrician to support our HVAC division at the CNRL Horizon site. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of HVAC electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. The ideal candidate is safety-driven, technically strong, and able to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Primary Responsibilities
Interpret manufacturer manuals, schematics, circuit diagrams, and blueprints to test, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems measuring flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition, and related variables
Inspect, test, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and replace instrumentation and electrical components, including sensors, transmitters, PLCs, and associated equipment
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and complete required testing, documentation, and maintenance reports
Install and commission control and measurement instruments on new and existing plant equipment and processes
Execute instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities in compliance with applicable regulations and site standards
Provide technical support and consultation to operations and maintenance teams
Promote a
safety-first culture through proactive safety and environmental leadership
Support the development and continuous improvement of instrumentation and electrical maintenance philosophies, procedures, and spare parts strategies
Plan and prioritize daily and long-term maintenance activities in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and technical staff
Encourage collaboration and participation to develop innovative solutions and achieve operational goals
Perform other duties as required
Education & Experience
High school diploma required
Alberta Certified Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician and Electrician tickets required
Experience as an Industrial Instrumentation Technician preferred
Qualifications & Skills
Experience working on electrical systems from 110V up to 600V
Strong leadership, planning, delegation, and organizational skills
Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Valid driver’s license
Strong time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
High level of independent judgment, attention to detail, and cost-control awareness
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, email)
Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, responsibility, and leadership
Assets
Experience with BAS/DDC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Delta, Johnson Controls, Schneider)
Experience with gas detection systems, VFDs, and PLCs
Previous experience supporting HVAC service or construction teams
