MS NOW is seeking a Production Assistant to join our direct-to-consumer (DTC) programming strategy team. If you’re passionate about politics and breaking news, thrive in fast-paced newsrooms, love creating compelling video content for a passionate fan community - this role is for you. The position requires strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, organizational skills, and a keen eye for timely, impactful storytelling.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Producers, Coordinating Producers to edit DTC exclusive content
• Support daily curation of DTC exclusive content across all platforms 
• Research and fact-check stories quickly and accurately
• Perform data research and basic analytics to identify audience trends, content performance, and emerging market opportunities 
• Identify and flag standout video and audio clips for exclusive DTC exclusive content
• Pitch creative for DTC, including engaging social media news stories and ongoing trends (both daily and long-term)
• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Senior Director of Content Strategy (e.g., decks, research, analytics, data summaries)
• As needed, support DTC community efforts, including content moderation
• At least one year of experience in news production / social media (including internships) 
• Knowledge of video editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools, YouTube Studio)
• Knowledge of Vmix, Riverside
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours (weekends and/or late nights) to service needs of a 24/7 news product
• Flexibility to respond to breaking news situations outside of regular working hours
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn how to edit short- and long-form video content
• Deep knowledge and passion for news and politics
• Deep knowledge and interest of digital content strategy, social media, audience insights, streaming, livestreaming space
• Strong communicative and collaboration skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Additional Job Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
• Must be willing to work weekends.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $30.00 - $32.00/hr
