DSAMStudent – Admin Tutor – (UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB:
Tutoring students, performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks including answering phone calls, managing schedules, tutoring students and organizing files. Responsible for providing administrative assistance support to our managers and employees, assisting in daily office needs and managing our company’s general administrative activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer and direct phone calls. 2. Tutoring students 3. Serves as an initial point of contact in relation to student inquiries. 4. Collects and manages data needed for reports to the division for daily operation and assessment activities. 5. Completes research and prepares reports that support administrative and academic requirements for the department. 6. Assists with promotional activities that serve the daily operation of the division. These activities may include but are not limited to the preparation of brochures, fliers, and dissemination of information electronically. 7. Carries out administrative duties such as filing, word-processing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
OTHER FUNCTIONS & DUTIES: Student must be able to tutor students in MATH or CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY or PHYSICS
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Current UDC student. 2. Maintain a 2.5 cumulative & semester GPA. 3. Demonstration of ability to interact effectively with university stake holders is expected in written and verbal communication. 4. Excellent time management skills 5. Demonstrates knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel and Outlook)
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: 1. Excellent management, interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and problem- solving skills. 2. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 3. Ability to work with collaborative online media such as GoToMeeting, Zoom, MS Teams, Webex, (Blackboard) or Outlook. 4. Ability to prepare and conduct surveys. 5. Ability to work independently on confidential assignments. 6. Ability to work as a team member. 7. Ability to meet deadlines.
PREFERRED (Undergrad Students) STANDARDS & EXPECTATIONS: 1. Expectations of the job: Incumbent is expected to tutor students (biology) and execute assignments successfully and to perform the majority of assigned duties with a high degree of independence, exercising sound judgment, initiative, and efficiency 2. Development and Counseling: The employee is expected to participate in activities that will help in the development of his/her career and help in the performance of the job. Employees may seek counseling from the immediate supervisor. 3.Training: Training is available to help improve the skill and knowledge level, and for updates on the latest techniques, methods and theories that are being used in the industry. 4. Knowledge of UDC Rules and Regulations: The position requires a solid understanding of the policies and procedures of the Board of Trustees, the University, as well as applicable Federal and D.C. government laws. The university provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety. 5. Physical Demands Normal physical dexterity is required including sitting, walking, standing and bending. The work is sedentary. Work is mostly performed in an office setting, frequently having a great deal of activity and traffic.
