Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role
As a Drop-In Volunteer, you will be responsible for:
Grocery and Hygiene Product Distribution:
Fulfill grocery orders from youth by putting together and distributing customized bags of groceries and hygiene products
Follow organizational systems for grocery and hygiene product distribution, keeping track of which orders have been fulfilled and which have yet to be
Hand out bags of groceries and hygiene products to youth in the Drop-In
Maintain organization of the pantry
Communicate with Youth Program Workers:
Communicate any irregular requests or questions outside of the scope of your role to a Youth Program Worker
Update Youth Program Workers about anything in the Drop-In or pertaining to participants that is noteworthy, needs to be addressed and/or of concern
What You Bring
Qualifications:
Identifies at 2SLGBTQIA+
Works well as a member of a team
Able to pack grocery bags
Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, anti-oppression, housing first approach, harm reduction approach, and trauma-informed care
Assets:
Knowledge and experience in the sector
Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) training
De-escalation training
