We're looking for a Dredging & Dewatering General Manager to support our growing team. The General Managers is accountable for the overall leadership, performance, and results of the assigned function or region. This role provides strategic and operational direction, ensures safe and compliant operations, drives growth, and delivers profitable results. The General Manager has full responsibility for the function or region’s P&L, including revenue growth, cost control, forecasting, and long-term financial sustainability. The role leads people, operations, and client relationships while aligning execution with organizational values and business objectives.
What You'll Do
Safety & Regulatory
Lead by example to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable legislation.
Ensure regulatory compliance across all operations within the function or region.
Partner with Health & Safety and regulatory stakeholders to manage risk and continuous improvement.
Business and Financial Management
Full responsibility for the function or region’s profit and loss (P&L), including budgeting, forecasting, revenue growth, cost control, DSO and margin performance.
Establish and manage annual and rolling financial plans, including project pipeline and resource forecasting.
Oversee financial controls, invoicing, vendor payments, and contract compliance.
Have an extensive knowledge of contracts and Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
Operations & Project Oversight
Provides leadership & clear direction and expectations to the group, distributing workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities
Ensure projects and operations are delivered safely, on time, within scope, profitably and in alignment with KBL Values.
Provide overall operational leadership and direction as well as senior level project management capabilities to ensure high-quality execution.
Provides oversight on all project planning, execution, and resource allocation across the region or function.
Ensure consistent application of technical, quality, and professional standards.
Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Actively communicate and pursue business objectives and plans and demonstrate a commitment to their achievement
People Leadership
Lead, manage, coach, and develop managers and team members.
Build a high performing, engaged, and accountable team.
Partner with People & Culture on workforce planning, performance management, and talent development.
Address performance, conduct, and development issues promptly and fairly.
Business Development
Drive the growth of KBL in the region by expanding existing client relationships and developing new ones
Stay in tune with what is happening in the local environmental industry
Actively develop key client relationships focusing on developing depth and breadth of account penetration
Be current on any Requests for Proposal in the industry
Who You Are
10+ years experience in the environmental or similar industry or a combination of relevant education and comparable industry work experience
5+ years in large projects
Must have exceptional verbal communication skills, able to give and receive verbal information and direction in a fast-paced environment.
Full competency with respect to project management skills, including but not limited to providing estimates, proposal submissions, scheduling, planning, organizing, directing and budgeting projects from start to finish
Strong management skills, with the ability to keep projects moving smoothly.
What You Need
Full competency with respect to meeting necessary specifications and contract requirements involved with a project, from start to finish
Strong understanding of accounting procedures; ability to understand and actively manage financial processes and results in order to meet specified goals
Strong entrepreneurial spirit along with the ability to recognize and pursue new business opportunities
Understanding of environmental regulations
Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office and KBL programs
Physical Requirements
This position requires long periods of sitting, data entry, and computer work for extended periods. You are responsible for working in a safe and proper manner utilizing proper workplace ergonomics to avoid injury to oneself and to others. In addition, this position will be subject to site-specific physical requirements and risks.
Work Environment
The position will be based out of the local KBL office (unless otherwise defined). Travel to the KBL sites, offices and client site will be required.
