Averton is an experienced and award-winning homebuilder, community developer and construction management company. We’re looking to add a Drafting Lead to our Edmonton team in the creation of innovative, accurate & consistent plans for our current and future projects.
This role will play a key part in executing the company’s drafting efforts by creating plans for site analysis through to unit-specific plans, as well as support management with drafting initiatives and project planning.
As the Drafting Lead, you will be responsible for the following:
Complete drafting and design tasks for current projects assigned by the Project or Production Manager
Lead and maintain Averton company drafting standards and standard operating procedures
Stay up to date with software updates and new software options that may be available
Actively participate in safety program to ensure all aspects of Averton are functioning at the highest level of safety standards
Aid the Drafting team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date filing and cataloguing of company drafting standards, including but not limited to, completion of base model and model option drawing maintenance due to changes in Alberta Building Code, National Building Code, evolving municipal standards, site revisions, best practice, Schedule A revisions, etc.
Complete base model plan creations, including but not limited to, ensuring bylaw and zoning standards are met for site specific plans, creating 2D and 3D concept drawings as required, adherence to applicable Code requirements, base model black and white lines as required for marketing, redline reviews to ensure errors and omissions have been captured before release to estimating, complete procurement of all documents as required for full tender (window schedule, engineering, joist layout, truss layout, energy modelling,), coordinate with municipality on all items related to bylaw adherence and development permit adherence (application, issues that may arise during development permit review, revisions to required permit documents), etc.
Complete site specific plan releases, including but not limited to, creating 2D and 3D concept drawings as required, job specific black and white line creation, redline reviews to ensure errors and omissions have been captured before release to estimating, complete procurement of all documents as required for building and unit specific permits (window schedules, engineering, joist layouts, truss layouts, energy modelling, plot plan, CCMC requirements, professional engagement), coordinate with municipality on all items related to building permit (application, issues that may arise during safety code review, revisions to required permit documents), etc.
Complete on-site walk throughs on a regular basis to ensure actual results are aligned with the preconstruction plan, Schedule A, and budget
Standard working conditions will be in-office, with site visits as required
On your resume we will be looking for the following qualifications:
5 or more years of drafting related experience in the residential industry
Experience with multi-family townhome buildings of 5 or more units will be considered an asset
A degree or certificate in Architecture or Architectural Technology
Knowledge of building code and regulations and innovative design trends, material specifications and applications, and residential building practices
Strong knowledge of drafting software, including ArchiCAD, AutoCAD or Revit
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent understanding of design principles, customer service skills and professionalism
Ability to maintain high-quality standards while working with multiple projects
