Join the University of Auckland as our Technical Lead for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and play a pivotal role in embedding DEI principles across HR systems, policies, and organisational practices. Reporting into the Associate Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, this is a highly strategic position, anchored in influencing change, ensuring our workplace is inclusive, equitable.

You will lead complex DEI workstreams, provide expert, technical advice, and oversee the implementation of key institutional plans including the Disability Action Plan (DAP) and Gender Equity Plan (GEP). You’ll be a strong collaborator, working closely with HR teams and external partners, to help shape an inclusive employee experience and strengthen our DEI capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead DEI systems change and integration across HR and organisational units.
• Develop and review DEI-related policies and ensure compliance with equity and human rights legislation.
• Oversee and own DEI metrics, reporting frameworks, and dashboards.
• Partner with HR and OPVC Equity to embed inclusive practices into operations and planning.
• Build strategic relationships with external bodies to enhance DEI initiatives.

Please note this is a full-time (37.5hours/week) position, with a salary range of $98,700 - $133,500 depending on skills and experience.

You’ll be a true DEI practitioner, with deep technical knowledge, coupled with the ability to translate complex DEI plan objectives into actionable initiatives and system-level improvements across HR and organisational units.

Qualifications:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in HR, Public Policy, or Organisational Development (essential).
• Postgraduate qualification or DEI/HR certifications (preferred).

Experience:

• 8–10 years professional experience, including 3+ years in senior technical advisory roles.
• Expertise in compliance reviews, policy development, and DEI metrics.
• Proven ability to lead inclusive systems change at enterprise level.

Skills:

• Strong technical and systems thinking capability.
• Policy development and compliance expertise.
• High cultural competency and commitment to equity principles.
