Job Description
Dive Instructor: Lead Marine Conservation in Fiji
Location: Dawasamu, Fiji | Start Date: ASAP
🌊 WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE MEETS THE OCEAN'S FUTURE
You’ve spent years mastering the blue, but now you’re looking for something more: a chance to use your professional diving skills to spark a global movement. You are a leader who understands that every dive is an opportunity to educate, every safety check is a commitment to excellence, and every student you train is a future guardian of the reef.
In the crystal-clear waters of Fiji, you won't just be a Dive Instructor; you will be the lead expert guiding international volunteers and local community members through their own transformative journeys. You are the mentor who turns a beginner into a conservationist and a Divemaster candidate into a professional.
✨ WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
As the Dive Instructor, you are the heartbeat of our marine operations. Based in the heart of the South Pacific, your mission is to maintain world-class diving standards while fostering a culture of safety and passion. While our teams focus on coral reef monitoring and marine research, you ensure that the "engine room" of the dive operation - the training, the gear, and the safety protocols - is flawless.
This role is for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves communal living, and finds joy in the success of their students.
🎯 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Master of Training: Lead the instructor team to train volunteers and local community members in PADI courses, from Open Water through to professional Divemaster and specialties.
Safety Architect: Ensure Emergency First Response (EFR) training is delivered to the highest standard for all participants, staff, and partners.
Equipment Stewardship: Take charge of scuba equipment maintenance and scheduling, ensuring all gear and first aid kits are in peak condition and meet GVI standards.
Operational Excellence: Assist with the daily logistics and upkeep of a remote marine conservation base, ensuring a high standard of health and safety through proactive reviews.
Community Leadership: Support the day-to-day management of a diverse group of international volunteers, acting as a mentor both in and out of the water.
Adaptive Support: Embrace the "one team" spirit, assisting with various conservation projects or base tasks as needed to ensure the mission's success.
🚀 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
You are ambitious, purpose-driven, and possess the resilience needed for remote island life. You understand that being a GVI leader means being "on" and accessible, acting as a steady guide for those discovering the underwater world for the first time.
Professional Skills & Experience:
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor: Active teaching status is essential.
Safety Certified: Up-to-date EFR Instructor teaching status and professional dive insurance.
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in managing safe diving standards and basic IT skills.
Equipment Maintenance: A qualification in dive gear maintenance (ideally Aqualung/Tusa) is a major advantage.
Language & Culture: Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus); experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for marine conservation and a sense of humor that keeps the team motivated.
🎉 WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
While you guide our volunteers, we ensure you have the support and security to grow your own career.
The Essentials: Monthly stipend, shared accommodation, food, and covered visa costs.
Security: Comprehensive emergency medical and travel insurance.
Growth & Support: Access to a training fund, leadership development, and in-house counseling.
Global Community: Transparency from leadership, a social fund, and opportunities to advance across our 17 worldwide locations.
Culture: Join a team that laughs a lot, genuinely cares for one another, and celebrates the impact we make together.
