We’re now looking for a Distribution Centre Manager to lead our DC operations and ensure the smooth, efficient movement of stock across our retail and online network.
The Role
This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe and efficient storage, transport and distribution of goods across our network, including management of our Distribution Centre operations across New Zealand and Australia.
You’ll lead the DC team and oversee day-to-day logistics operations to ensure stock is received, stored and dispatched accurately and on time to support both retail stores and online customers.
This is a hands-on leadership role. With a small team, the manager needs to be willing to roll up their sleeves and support day-to-day warehouse operations when needed.
What you’ll be responsible for
Operations & Dispatch
Oversee daily DC operations including dispatch for retail stores, production, and online orders
Plan and communicate daily workloads and targets with the DC team
Ensure stock is picked, packed and dispatched accurately and on time
Monitor dispatch methods to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
Investigate and resolve pick errors and implement improvements to prevent future issues
Inwards Goods & Inventory
Manage inbound deliveries, container unloading and receipting procedures
Maintain MPI compliance and ensure transitional facility standards are met
Maintain high inventory accuracy through cycle counting and stock investigations
Lead seasonal stock takes and inventory reconciliation
Team Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the Distribution Centre team
Ensure processes are documented and team members are trained across key functions
Promote a positive, collaborative team culture
Compliance, Health & Safety
Ensure DC operations comply with company policies and relevant legislation
Maintain high health and safety standards within the warehouse environment
Monitor building compliance and operational safety practices
What we’re looking for
Proven experience managing a distribution centre or warehouse operation
Transitional Facility experience is essential, without this and compliance being maintained, Overland cannot unload containers at the DC
Forklift licences with counterbalance and reach experience are essential
Strong leadership experience managing operational teams
Solid understanding of inventory control, stock management and logistics operations
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
A proactive communicator who enjoys working collaboratively across teams
