Disability Support Worker – Autism, Community & Behaviour Support
Wollongong, NSW | Community & In-Home Shifts | Ongoing
We are seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to support children and adults with autism, behavioural support needs, and community access goals across the Wollongong region.
This role suits workers who are patient, reliable, and committed to providing respectful, person-centred support that builds independence and confidence.
Applicants must have availability across at least 4 days per week and be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week.
About the Role
You will be supporting participants with:
Autism (children and adults)
Behavioural and emotional regulation needs
Community access and social participation
Daily routines and independence-building goals
Alcohol and Drugs dependency
Insulin dependent participants
Some participants and families may have preferences for consistent workers and a calm, structured approach.
Key Responsibilities
Support participants in home and community settings
Assist with daily routines, structure, and independence
Personal care including showering, toileting and manual handing
Administering Insulin when required
Use behaviour-aware and trauma-informed approaches
Support emotional regulation and positive engagement
Maintain accurate, objective documentation
Communicate professionally with families, clinicians, and the support team
Prioritise participant safety, dignity, and wellbeing
Essential Requirements
Experience supporting people with autism and/or behavioural needs
Ability to commit to 4+ days availability
Ability to work 15+ hours per week
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Driver’s licence and reliable transport
Insulin administration trained
Manual Handling trained
Highly Desirable
Experience supporting children with autism
Behaviour support or CPI training
Mental Health First Aid
Trauma-informed practice
