About the Role
At Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS), we support people with compassion, respect, and genuine partnership. We are currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 community-based psychosocial support to adults living with autism and mental health conditions across Wallsend, Mayfield, and Hamilton.
This role is relationship-focused rather than task-driven and requires a calm, emotionally regulated, and trauma-informed approach.

Availability & Commitment (Essential)
To support consistency and continuity of care, applicants must:
Be available for weekday daytime shifts
Be able to commit to ongoing, regular hours
Be willing to travel between Wallsend, Mayfield, and Hamilton
This role is suited to workers seeking stable community-based hours rather than ad hoc shifts.

Have experience supporting people with autism and/or psychosocial disability
Are confident supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
Communicate calmly, respectfully, and non-confrontationally
Are patient, grounded, and emotionally aware
Are comfortable working around pets (cats and dogs)
Maintain strong professional boundaries
What the Role Involves
Community access and social support
Supporting emotional regulation and routine
Encouraging independence and engagement
Providing domestic assistance where required
Responding calmly to distress or escalation
Completing clear, objective documentation
Essential Experience & Skills
Demonstrated experience in psychosocial or autism support
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, or similar
NDIS Worker Screening Check
First Aid & CPR
Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
