Job Description
Position Summary
The Dirt Work Operator is responsible for supporting underground utility and boring operations through safe, efficient operation of earthmoving equipment. This role focuses on feeding pipe to fusion crews, monitoring bore subcontractors, performing grading, backfilling, and site preparation activities to support project schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate skid steers, loaders, and dozers to perform excavation support, grading, backfilling, and material handling.
Safely handle, stage, and align pipe to support fusion operations.
Support bore subcontractors, including preparation and maintenance of entry and exit pits.
Assist with site setup, housekeeping, and general jobsite support as required.
Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
Follow project plans, grades, and safety requirements, including utility locates and job hazard analyses.
Work with foremen, crews, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and schedule.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
Must be at least 18 years old.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be able to work long, flexible hours including weekends.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Willingness to travel to different locations and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Reliable transportation required.
Have a valid driver license
2–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction environments.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
